The first Community Facilities working group meeting had a fantastic conversation yesterday evening. Already, we have plans to fix the ceiling panels, lights and to begin sourcing furniture.
Two smaller groups (who couldn't make last night) are meeting on 5 March at 10am and 11 March at 2pm. There will probably be have lots more actions from these conversations too.
The energy is fantastic and thank you to all of you who have followed up actions and updated me already....amazing :) Evelyn.
One Dalkeith was initially set up to enhance the provision of community facilities in Dalkeith. The community said they wanted “free or low cost town centre community facilities”.
One Dalkeith has taken on a lease until end July 2019 of the 21 Eskdaill Court, Dalkeith (opposite Peppermint Park & the Blacksmith's Forge) with the option to extend it if the community want this building as a community facility.
This extensive premises can be used for whatever the community want – we are all invited to share ideas and skills to make the place a super, energising space for people in Dalkeith.
Please bring your ideas so we can find out exactly how community members want a building like this to be used.
If it is community-run and managed by the community One Dalkeith would need to rent out space in order to cover the costs of a free-to-use / low cost community section. Please tell One Dalkeith what sort of organisations / persons /businesses you would like filling the space.
If you want to help – There are lot of immediate practical things to do
Please email Evelyn on communityfacilities@onedalkeith.info to find out more or make offers of time or stuff.
